J'en El had to drop out of school in the 11th grade due to family financial hardships. This prompted her to vow to herself there would be nothing in her future that she could not do. Her winning attitude was further strengthened by being raised in a family and environment where it was not good enough to "simply survive" but instead...to reach for the stars.

Realizing that she and only she was responsible for her life, at age 16, with just $75, she started her own business selling jewelry which ultimately turned into a thriving gold and diamond business. In continuing pursuit of her dream, she loaded up her car and a U-Haul and struck out from Baltimore, MD for San Diego, CA. Shortly after settling in, however, a major setback occurred when she was robbed of $125,000 worth of gold jewelry. To make matters worse, it wasn't covered by insurance. As devastating as this was, she refused to give up on her dreams.

After the robbery, J'en El assisted with the Grand Opening of the La Jolla, CA Nordstrom Department Store, rapidly rising to become the top sales person in all four Southern California Nordstrom stores. Years later, while at work one day, even though she was just a few months away from being vested for many thousands of dollars, she knew in her heart it was time to move on so she left Nordstrom in favor of starting her own importing business..."J'en El Silks." She purchased pure silk fabric and created colorful, one-of-a-kind, hand-painted, personally signed masterpieces that were promoted by and sold at such well-known stores as the Smithsonian Institute Gift Shop, Nordstrom, major direct mail order catalogues, and a variety of specialty stores around the world. Her business quickly became an international success which allowed her to travel extensively and eventually begin importing from China and Thailand.

Continuing to honor the creative impulse, she recognized the importance and necessity of developing "multiple streams of income" so she started in-depth studies on nutrition, the human body, the mind, metaphysics, investment and tax saving strategies, stock trading, and various businesses! In 2001, she once again felt the calling to move to the next level and thus began her writing career. It was vitally important for J'en El to contribute back to the world to her fullest capacity.

J'en El is a living example of knowing there is nothing a person cannot do in life given enough clarity, determination, and a winning attitude! Her vision now is to help people return to their authentic nature and to be as successful as possible by helping them avoid unnecessary struggle and unwise decisions based on her own success and hard earned experience.

J'en El has spoken nationwide to audiences of thousands, sharing the same stage with such notable speakers as Dr. Denis Waitley, Robert G. Allen, Michele Blood, and Dr. Edith Eva Eger. She currently resides in San Diego, CA where her dreams continue to unfold.
